Preventive and periodic maintenance
The maintenance of your semi-automatic defibrillator is very important. The battery of the AED must have sufficient power to guarantee intervention in an emergency. Most of the batteries that come with the AED are not rechargeable, when the battery runs out you have to replace it with a new one.The semiautomatic defibrillator electrodes (plates) are disposable and must be replaced each time they are used in an emergency. In case the electrodes are not used, they must be changed on the expiration date.
Automatic external defibrillators are classified as “Electromedical Devices” and therefore must comply with the safety requirements defined by the IEC 60601 series of standards. The same standards require that these devices must be subjected to electrical safety checks at defined intervals based on their classification. For the AED, the verification periodicity is 2 years.MET-LIFE, thanks to the provision of sophisticated equipment and highly qualified personnel, in addition to the verification of electrical safety, is able to provide services for the verification of essential properties (non-mandatory activity for automatic or semi-automatic external defibrillators) aimed at verifying the effective functioning of the AED through real delivery of shocks.
Met-Life acts as an intermediary with the training centers for the organization of BLSD courses (Basic Life Support Defibrillation) required for the use of the DAE semiautomatic defibrillator with the release of the defibrillator use authorization.
The course is designed to acquire the knowledge and practical skills to learn how to use the defibrillator and to provide assistance to victims while you are waiting the arrival of the Emergency Medical Service.
